A Sweaty Yeti is not a box that arrives and gets plugged in. Every unit is built for you in Spanish Fork, Utah, which means the decisions worth getting right are the ones you make before production starts. Here is what to settle first.
Build time: 60 to 90 days, then one day
Factory build takes 60 to 90 days. Installation, once the unit is delivered, typically takes a single day. That shape catches people out: the wait is all at the front, and then it is finished almost immediately. Plan your pad and your electrical work during the build window, not after delivery.
Choose the model by the room you want, not the square footage
Every model except the standalone sauna shares the same 8 ft by 17 ft footprint, 136 sq ft. What changes is what sits in the second half of the structure.
-
Sweaty Yeti Sauna: 8 ft by 9 ft, 48 sq ft, seats 4 to 6. The sauna on its own, and the smallest footprint.
-
Sauna Plus: 6 to 8 person sauna with a dedicated changing room. The choice when guests use it, not just the household.
-
Sauna & Barrel Plunge: 6 to 8 person sauna with a barrel cold plunge in its own room. Contrast therapy without stepping outside.
-
Sauna Plunge: 4 to 6 person sauna with a dedicated cold plunge room.
-
Sauna Fit: 4 to 6 person sauna with a workout room attached.
-
Plunge Max: a larger cold plunge room with space for up to two tubs, for recovery-first setups.
The question that decides it is simple: after the heat, where do people go? If the answer is straight into the house, dripping, the changing room or the plunge room earns its footprint quickly.
The pad comes first
A level concrete or gravel pad is recommended, and flat terrain matters more than the surface you choose. This is the one job that has to be finished before the truck arrives, and it is the most common reason an install day slips. Confirm the final footprint on your quote before you pour or grade, and think about how the delivery will reach the spot: these structures arrive by freight and need a clear approach.
Power
Depending on the configuration, units take anywhere from a 20-amp 120V connection up to an 80-amp 240V connection, much like a hot tub. A local licensed electrician handles this, and the Sweaty Yeti Customer Care team can help coordinate the specification. Ask for the final electrical requirement in writing once your options are locked, because it changes with what you add: heated showers, mini-split heating and cooling and infrared panels all move the number.
The options that change the experience
There is a long options list, and not all of it earns its place. In our experience these are the ones that change how often the sauna gets used.
-
An outdoor shower: available unheated, winterized with a frost-free valve, or heated with a 6-gallon water heater. In a cold climate the frost-free version is the difference between year-round use and a shower you drain every autumn.
-
Windows: side windows and a triangle window above the entry door. They change the room from a cabin to a place you want to sit.
-
Siding and roof: board and batten is standard, with metal siding and knotty fineline cedar as upgrades. This is the decision that decides whether the structure reads as part of the house or as equipment.
-
Infrared panels: four carbon fiber panels can be added alongside the traditional heater, giving you both styles of heat in one room.
-
Mini-split heating and cooling: worth it on the models with a changing room, workout room or plunge room, where the second space is used at normal temperatures.
Sauna and plunge together
If contrast therapy is the point, the plunge should be a few steps from the heat, not across the lawn. That is the argument for the Sauna & Barrel Plunge and the Sauna Plunge over buying a sauna now and adding a tub later: the two rooms share a structure, a pad and one electrical run. For the protocol itself, our cold plunge and ice bath guide covers temperatures and timing.
Every specification, price, delivery term and project scope is confirmed in writing before production begins. Nothing is built off an assumption.
How the quote works
Because these are configurable, the product pages carry a configurator rather than a simple add-to-cart. You choose the finishes and upgrades, and the selection comes to our team for a confirmed, itemized quote. The estimate shown covers your chosen upgrades; freight, taxes, installation and any site-specific requirements are confirmed separately. Permits, drainage and plumbing depend on your configuration and your local rules, so settle those with your contractor while the unit is in build.
Delivery, installation and warranty
Freight is complimentary and fully insured to the contiguous 48 states, delivered kerbside. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico ship for a flat $1,000, and Canada is available on request. Installation is arranged with your own licensed contractor and usually takes a day; our $4,000 professional installation add-on applies only to Orivon Wellness saunas, not to Sweaty Yeti structures. Sweaty Yeti units carry a lifetime warranty with full coverage.
Living with it
Cedar weathers, and that is the material behaving as intended rather than a fault. Let the sauna dry properly between sessions, leave the door ajar after a long session, and keep the pad clear of standing water and leaf litter. Every unit ships with an owner's manual, and the same PDF is linked on each product page if you want to read it before you order.
